1. Your roots are in Quebec City, what lured you to California?

Actually, I grew up in a little town (1,223 peoples) called Lorrainville in Abitibi-Temiscamingue, a northern Quebec province region. This place was pretty much dead… literally. A Really unhealthy environment for individuals that want to learn more about art, life and social experiences. I moved to Quebec City I was 18 and everything seemed to happen at the same time. I played guitar in a band, got my first computer, discovered graphic design and finally been able to get laid with girls because where I grew up, all the girls are your cousins or too young or your older cousins girlfriend.

California… let's say I got an offer I couldn't refuse at a moment where I felt like the ship was going down. It's incredible how a good dose of daily Californian sun can have a positive effect on your mind.

2. Do you miss the Quebec Nordiques? : )

Not really : ) I've never been a Hockey fan. But damn their blue shirts and their logo was awesome.

3. After 4 years of much hard work, what has Evil Pupil taught you?

That everyone can have their 15 minutes of fame. Look at that… I mean…. She wrote 'Yohan Rocks' on her boobs!! Isn't it beautiful and twisted ??

4. When do you foresee the audio section going up on Evil Pupil and what can we expect?

Funny you ask me that because it's exactly what I'm working on right now. My original plan was to build 3 or 4 songs from some loops I built for some E*P sections and then put it live on the site. When I went back to Canada for the Xmas holidays something awesome happened. I got a small record deal with a record label based in Quebec City. 1000 copies for a first print. So here am I… writing and working on some tracks for a cd. I brought back my digital 4-tracks from Canada so I could mix some acoustic guitar songs with computer-generated sounds. I will post more details on E*P pretty soon.

5. Your latest project "same ol shelter" focuses on your drawings. Is this a new direction for you?

Not really. I love what Errol does over at www.untitled.nu and it inspires me a lot. I can't really draw but I surely can make doodles and scan the crap out of it and apply it to a texture in photoshop : ). (Don't tell anyone ok ? I have a reputation you know… )

6. Your work on "Hey You" is highly detailed and overall, just great work. Can you explain the inspiration behind this piece?

I got the idea maybe 5 months after I got in L.A. I known Pink Floyd because my father was a big fan. I just decided to build that little piece in my free time.

7. I am curious, what was the site invertebrae about?

It was a magazine founded by Ryan Holsten of www.liftingfaces.com . It was my first design collaboration in this wonderful web-community. What happened to it ??
Ask Ryan : )

8. The 3rd Summit of the Americas was a meeting between delegates from 34 countries which was held in Quebec City in April 2001 and it dealt with the FTAA (Free Trade Area of the Americas, which involve North and South America and the Caribbean). What are your thoughts on the FTAA?

I'm sorry to inform you that because of the article 45.7 of the GRC manual, I can't answer this question related to the April events that took place in Quebec City from the 20th to the 24th. Due to unfortunate events I must remain silent : )

9. You took a great photo set during the Summit. At any given point did you feel that your safety was seriously compromised?

Definitely. Ching, my friend, got shot in the leg by a teargas gun launcher. Cops are supposed to shoot at an angle of 45 degrees in the air with those guns. That cop simply decided that at this very precise moment, he would hurt someone for no reason in the name of the government (that's just a job after all). My friend got his leg almost cut in 2 parts. He's still recovering.

10. And as a final question, what was the last great movie you saw and what was the last great book you read?

The last movie that made me cry, laugh, vomit and wanting to do something with my life was ' Requiem for a dream'. The story of the old lady somehow really touched me. It made me want to do a little more research on that layer of well established Scientifics that everyday put out a new drug that will numb the entire north American population and fool them by saying it'll bring them happiness. They have to keep their job. Who's financing them ?? You… you that believed you were suffering of depression after you saw that commercial on TV explaining all the symptoms. Am I making sense ??

I'm reading a French book wrote by one of the best journalist in Quebec, Normand Lester. It's called "The black book of the English Canada " : ). It explains and shows how the English Canadians medias use subtle racists comments against the French Canadian and make us a bad reputation overseas. That's just the first part of the book. I'm not done yet.

Much thanks Yohan ...... let us know when your audio is up on Evil Pupil ...
