Some great, inspirational work from German VFX Artist Tim Borgmann: time to salivate XSI users ; )
As someone who doesn’t work in the VFX (Film) industry its been hard to follow the #VFXProtest movement. You read one blog and people are arguing over what the problems are. Another blog may feature exchanges over what the solution is or should be (if there is a solution at all).
Either way I do see an overlap in problems within many different industries. Whether that’s in advertising or even game development. Not to mention most of us in “motion design” probably know a few people in LA fighting for their futures right now.
I ran across this post by Bran Dougherty-Johnson on twitter and decided to share it HERE.
For more background on whats going on in the vfx industry read the Wired.com article on it. They did a great job of covering every angle on this and linking to many different sources related to the story.
New Reel with some great work from VFX/Creative Director Chris Waner
Let me say, the nicest – most impactful festival titles I’ve yet to see. Beautifully shot and directed with impressive CG, animation and audio/sfx combined. Really love the characters creeping up on the deadline. Created by Tendril with Anthony Scott Burns & CypherAudio for the Styleframes NYC festvial.
CypherAudio and Tendril dropped another great project for Nike VIA Blacklist ; Mercurial Vapor IX — drawing parallels between the boot and the thoroughbred sleekness of an Italian supercar.
Karin Fong from Imaginary Forces directed this game trailer for the upcoming God Of War: Ascension.
I’m a huge fan of roller coasters and amusement park rides. The bigger the better. This is the Centrifuge Brain Project which studies how these rides affect our IQ. Very interesting research. Enjoy :)
Written/produced/directed by Till Nowak, starring Leslie Barany, cinematography: Ivan Robles Mendoza, sound: Andreas Radzuweit, Lukas Bonewitz

Our latest feature :: the first of several coming up for 2013
We had a chance to chat with Jordi Pages who recently collaborated with MRK, Gabor Ekes and Echolab, crafting these titles for the 2012 Playgrounds Fest.
1. Please describe the initial brief.
The brief was mainly a blank canvas. The only requirement was that we had to feature in some way the line up of artist that were going to be part of Playgrounds Fest 2012. Leon (Playgrounds director) just wanted to give us creative freedom and he encourage us to try any thing we had in our heads.

We were all waiting for the second chapter of his Essays On Reality, and the wait has finally come to an end! His latest video is now online, both on Vimeo and on a dedicated website here.
Essays On Reality, Chapter 2 represents “a caricature of hardcore pornography, a visual interpretation of our relationship with social technology, and a critique on the collapse of the European Union”.
