Loyalkaspar: Amnesty International ‘Shine a light’

Great new project from NY/LA based Loyalkaspar: Amnesty International ‘Shine a light’ — A short film celebrating 50 years of Amnesty International Shining a Light on human rights issues through the power of letter writing. Created pro-bono by the Betterment Bureau, a department of Loyalkaspar inc.

Amnesty’s request was for us to help them by creating the opening film for their 50th anniversary conference, and it was precisely the kind of thing the Bureau has been yearning to do. But we knew that pulling off a 3:00 mixed-media film in only our free time wouldn’t be easy. And it wasn’t. Five months of working evenings, weekends and the occasional weekday (graciously donated by Loyalkaspar) pushed the Bureau to its limits and brought out its best.

JAPAN HELP PSA

Self-initiated PSA for Japanese Relief Aid.

Sometimes we forget that just because an event like this isn’t on the front page anymore, the struggle to save and rebuilt lives has passed. IAMSTATIC wanted to create something that can act as a reminder that this disaster is still happening and not a memory.

Moby, Vimeo + Saatchi&Saatchi: Hello, Future.

I wish I had of found this earlier! Quite impressive for a competition, to say the least. Make a music video with one of 3 Moby tracks available to download on the Vimeo competition page. The winner will be announced and their video screened at this year’s New Directors’ Showcase in Cannes, as well as on the Vimeo site. They will also be offered the chance to work on a project in one of Saatchi & Saatchi‘s key offices around the Saatchi & Saatchi Global Network.

This year, as part of The Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Saatchi & Saatchi partners with Vimeo and Moby to discover
yet another unique filmmaking talent, with a Music Video Challenge.

The brief is simple: interpret and bring to life the idea of ‘Hello, Future’ in the form of a fantastic music video for one of Moby’s tracks from his new album, ‘Destroyed’.
Historically, many featured directors in the Showcase have gone on to seriously successful careers: Tarsem, Michel Gondry, Mark Romanek, Spike Jonze, Ivan Zacharias, Kinka Usher, Danny Kleinman and Jonathan Glazer included.

No pressure.

Radical Friend

Two of my favourite artists who spoke at F5 this year were Radical Friend a collaborative directing duo consisting of of LA based directors Kirby Mcclure and Julia Grigorian. Their video for Yeasayer’s Ambling Alp is a NSFW post trippy classic and their interactive work is constantly pushing what can be done with current technology. I am really looking forward to the film they are currently working on. Video links and interview here.

Thom Yorke: Live DJ Set @ Low End Theory LA

Last March 9th, Theo Jemison, Grace Oh, Arthur S. Mor and Alter filmed Thom Yorke‘s live DJ Set at Low End Theory in L.A … mixing Burial and Madvillain.

NY Adorned “Tradition”

Evan Dennis directed this beautiful short for New York Adorned and it’s just the thing to get me in the mood for my trip to New York this week…the Grails soundtrack is also a perfect compliment to the B&W imagery.
