Tobias Rehberger: Architecture, Setouchi Art Festival

German process artist Tobias Rehberger participated in Japan’s Setouchi International Art Festival where artists and architects converge from 17 countries. The festival takes place across Japan’s southern inland islands in an attempt to rejuvenate its depressed rural areas. Tobias renovated a vacant house on one of the islands, creating this op-art infused cafeteria/restaurant called “Was du liebst, bring ich auch zum weinen” (What You Love also Makes You Cry).

Reid Gower: NASA ~ The Sagan Series

Reid Gower is a Canadian philosophy undergrad taking time off to explore science and media. Subsequently, Reid has developed NASA: The Sagan Series to promote the beauty in scientific values, based on the writings of American Astrophysicist Carl Sagan. Reid was inspired by NASA‘s inability to promote and advertise itself and, in large, by Michael Marantz‘s Earth: The Pale Blue Dot. After obtaining Michael’s permission to use Carl Sagan‘s voice, Reid has gone on to produce 7 chapters of the Sagan Series. Watch them all at www.saganseries.com

Mongrel Media Intro

Mongrel Media is one of Canada’s leading film distribution companies specializing in art house, foreign and independent feature films and documentaries.

Helios created a new title intro to be debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival. Slow motion footage of a running dog was stabilized, tracked and rotoscoped. The resulting footage was layered into a dynamic composition and treated to resemble the look of an animated oil painting.
