I’m a huge fan of roller coasters and amusement park rides. The bigger the better. This is the Centrifuge Brain Project which studies how these rides affect our IQ. Very interesting research. Enjoy :)

The biggest tour story of fall 2011 is definitely Amon Tobin‘s ISAM: Live. The first time in the artists’ history that he’s presented his music in a cutting-edge visual format is taking North America by storm. By far the hottest ticket on the concert circuit, ALL DATES are completely sold out and at a record pace. The show feature’s the stunning 25? x 14? x 8? multi-dimensional/ shape shifting 3-D art installation surrounding Tobin, enveloping him and the audience in a beyond 3-D experience … toasted by everyone from Billboard, Wired, Fast Company, Wall Street Journal, LA Times, URB, Time Out New York and many more! Ninja Tune bass diva Emika opening most dates in support of her upcoming self-titled debut release as well as Eskmo and Lorn in select spots.
Chicago-based, design-focused production company Leviathan produced the show’s projection mapping, creating ethereal CG narratives and engineering the geometry maps for an entire stage of stacked cube-like structures. Taking the performance further, the Leviathan team also developed a proprietary projection alignment tool to ensure quick and accurate setup for the show, along with custom Kinect control & visualization utilities for Amon to command.
Adding the final element to the unlike-any-other tour experience is the booming bass courtesy of sound provided by Pure Filth. If you’ve ever been lucky to attend a Low End Theory, Bassface, or even last year’s bass tent at Coachella, you can vouch for the uber-serious sound experience only the mighty Pure Filth Soundsystem can provide. According to LA Weekly, “Overheard: Girl standing next to speaker: ‘I feel like my face is getting a massage.’”
Roca Blanca Artist Gabriel Orozco collaborated with Architect Tatiana Bilbao in creating his own home: The Observatory House. Set into a rocky elevation with an incredible 360 panorama backdrop. Inspired by the Jantar Mantar Astronomical Observatory. A wonderful example of architecture incorporating its natural surroundings giving its inhabitants an uninhibited view and experience of nature.

Last month we posted the Seed Cathedral, check out this video for a more upclose look at the building’s exterior and interior. This breaks the boundaries of a traditional architectural skin like no other and is directly affected by wind currents giving the visitor a sense of entering a living organism rather than a static structure.
Not new, almost a year old, but recently came across this again and WOW is appropriate. Directed by Kosuke Oho of www.w0w.co.jp, a short film about the infinite possibilities of the circulation of energy through Tokyo. Audio by Masato Hatanaka.
This is quite amazing; “”Seed Cathedral’ by Thomas Heatherwick, under construction in Shanghai for this summer’s 2010 World Expo, has an amazing ulterior motive: at the end of every one of the 60,000 transparent acrylic rods that you see fuzzing outward into the sunlight are the seeds of plants … creating a larger-than-life catalog of the plant species that contribute to national and global conservation programs, in a veritable cathedral of seeds.” (directly from BLDBLOG).
