OFFF Barcelona + On Tour titles by CoCoe

OFFF Barcelona, the city that hosted the very first OFFF back in 2000, was the first of its kind. Its massive success lead to the birth of a entire generation of new offspring media festivals all over the world. OFFF over the last 11 years has travelled all over the world and again returns to its birthplace, brining with it, of course, an amazing lineup of speakers and workshops. Here are just a few of them: The Chrome Project: Aaron Koblin + Filip Visnjic + Eduard Prats Molner + Mr Doob, Stefan Sagmeister, The Mill, Timba Smits, Alex Trouchut,Kultnation (creating the OFFF Barcelona titles), Base Design, Carl Burgess, Hort, Johnny Kelly, John Burgerman, Julien Vallee, Matt W. Moore, Onur Senturk, PostPanic, Resonance Film debut, Rob Chiu + HECQ, Vasava … the entire lineup is massive, see the whole thing on the OFFF Barcelona page.

OFFF is also going on a global tour! The first stop was in Madrid and was a great success. The CoCoe Conspiracy created this clip for the tour based on James Coburn’s Our Man Flint. CoCoe wrote the story, designed and animated the spot.

See No Evil: June event

For those in London: See No Evil‘s next event is coming up on June 7th, this time with Chris O’Reilly, co-founder of the giant Nexus Productions which has produced and directed some of the most impressive commercials and music videos I’ve ever seen. Nick Knight: free Lady Gaga posters x 30

I like this idea. London based SHOWstudio and Nick Knight are sequentially releasing 30, A4 posters as free downloads. When combined together these posters will form a giant poster of a Lady Gaga photo taken by Nick Knight; a unique visual ‘remix’ of the original cover art. A new poster will be available for free download each day on SHOWstudio’s Born This Way – Remix page.

Brand New School: Mitchum

BNS just wrapped this first :30 spot entitled “Lie,” and two more to follow over the weeks ahead, all for advertising agency Mother New York as part of its new “Love Thy Pits” campaign for Mitchum. Together with director of photography Eric Treml, Jonathan and the BNS team used the ARRI Alexa digital camera system to capture their HD source footage during three days of production on-stage.

“We essentially painted animation on people’s skin, using a fusion of digital and practical techniques,” Jonathan explained. “After exploring different ways of accomplishing the desired effect, we filmed people with real paint on their skin, then we animated artwork using traditional cel animation techniques, where we matched the practical paint used in the live-action shoot. The animation was then composited onto their skin using seamless digital visual effects.”

BNS artists tracked the form of the human body using mocha, then animated what they wanted on the body using cel animation with hand-drawn artwork. They then projected their animation onto the tracked body and composited the work in Nuke to make it feel like actual paint. Final color was handled in Autodesk Flame.

What follows is the type of causality everyones expecting. “After a year of successfully touring international film festivals, Polynoid is happy and excited to share their latest short film ‘Loom’ online as it is released through their website www.polynoid.tv.
