Bayo is a Texas based artists whose work “… depicts cheerless and melancholic worlds, where the main character is the psyque, as an epicenter of implosion and confrontation among the diverse layers of the subconscious level. Imaginary Forces: New Reel

Imaginary Forces updated with a great montage for Spring 2011. Quite a fresh new take on a reel and I like it alot. IF called upon calligraffiti artist Niels Shoe Meulman for the tag — damn nice, with audio by The Dandy Warhols and beautifully edited by Danielle White.

What Matters Most + Flying Lotus: Vans Syndicate x Luke Meier

Just came across L.A based What Matters Most; a co-operative of artists looking elevate each other’s work through a collective process. Some stunning work and fantastic direction. First up is Vans Syndicate x Luke Meier; Written and directed by Kahlil Joseph, in collaboration with Luke Meier, shot using the RED ONE as well as the Phantom HD systems with audio by Flying Lotus and Melvin Gibbs –> A viral ad spot designed to celebrate the launch of a new product by Luke Meier and Vans Syndicate.

Next up is this Extended web version music video for “Cheeba” by Shafiq (Sa-Ra) feat. Bilal, incorporating several pieces of music off of Shafiq’s debut solo album En A-Free-Ka and greatly inspired by the Thelonious Monk documentary “Straight No Chaser.” Also directed by Kahlil Joseph.


Also love Shabazz Palaces – Belhaven Meridian; An allegorical short film/music video for Shabazz Palaces called “Belhaven Meridian.” Beautifully shot on 35mm black & white film in Watts, Los Angeles, “Belhaven Meridian” is a one-shot homage to Charles Burnett’s 1977 classic KILLER OF SHEEP.

BrightPhoto + Jason Arber: Magnesium Project

Pierre Magnol, aka BrightPhoton, concepted, directed, animated, shot and composited these titles for the Jason Arber directed short film Magnesium Project.

SIT: debut U.S exhibition

Artist SIT has been part of the Amsterdam creative scene for many years. Doing action painting, graphic design, advertising and more until he got fed up. He went back to square one to find his true essence. Back to head and handcraft. SIT will be debuting in the U.S with an exhibition at C.A.V.E Gallery in Venice C.A from Friday April 8th – May 7.

F5: Hi-Sim + final speakers announced

Well it looks like F5 is pretty good at keeping secrets. The final batch of speakers were announced and its impressive: Mark Romanek, Adam Bly, Neil Huxley, PressPausePlay and Tanya Morgan. See the entire speaker lineup here.

The video above, which is completely jaw dropping, was created by Hi-Sim for the F5 RE:PLAY film festival which brings together a number of the best studios and independent directors out there to create short films on the simple topic of happiness. Hi-Sim are commercial/music video directors represented by RSA.

Woodkid: Iron music video

Now, Im not sure I have this right, but from what I understand Woodkid (aka Yoann Lemoine) is a NY based musician and director. If that is true, then the combo is quite impressive here as you can see in this video directed by Woodkid for Woodkid’s first EP IRON. [via Cpluv]
