Shi Yuan is a Chinese graphic artist who has utilized heat reactive paint in some interesting ways, breathing organic life into otherwise static environments. I especially like the idea of interactive posters. How often have you seen a print that made you wanted to reach out and touch it?

I wish I had of found this earlier! Quite impressive for a competition, to say the least. Make a music video with one of 3 Moby tracks available to download on the Vimeo competition page. The winner will be announced and their video screened at this year’s New Directors’ Showcase in Cannes, as well as on the Vimeo site. They will also be offered the chance to work on a project in one of Saatchi & Saatchi‘s key offices around the Saatchi & Saatchi Global Network.
This year, as part of The Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Saatchi & Saatchi partners with Vimeo and Moby to discover
yet another unique filmmaking talent, with a Music Video Challenge.
The brief is simple: interpret and bring to life the idea of ‘Hello, Future’ in the form of a fantastic music video for one of Moby’s tracks from his new album, ‘Destroyed’.
Historically, many featured directors in the Showcase have gone on to seriously successful careers: Tarsem, Michel Gondry, Mark Romanek, Spike Jonze, Ivan Zacharias, Kinka Usher, Danny Kleinman and Jonathan Glazer included.
No pressure.
In March, Under Armour introduced its E39 compression shirt during the NFL Scouting Combine, and Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Cam Newton and Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones are among those who made headlines as their vital stats were assessed in real-time for viewers using this innovative new athletic evaluation improvement tool. In collaborations between Under Armour, director Andre Stringer and his colleagues at Shilo and creative think tank WMIG, at last, the :60 spot has just debuted on ESPN, and it will continue to air widely during all the NFL Draft-related television programming set for the days to come. As you can see here, this film adds Shilo‘s extraordinary design, animation and visual effects talents into the mix. From Shilo Director Andre Stringer, “This piece continues our trajectory of pioneering a storytelling technique that mixes both live-action and design at the highest of levels.”
This is quite emotional and gives a clear view of how things are experienced and perceived in Tokyo following the earthquake and subsequent disasters in Fukushima. I think its quite easy for us outside of Japan to lack a true understanding of what those in Japan have experienced. This is a short video created by W+K Tokyo … from their blog post on the video: “This is a voicemail video message we put together to capture the rollercoaster ride of emotions and insights into how the folks in our office have been coping post-March 11. We are surrounded by earthquake aftershocks, beautiful cherry blossoms, a nuclear threat and an amazing blue sky.” Thanks Marek!
