Tsutomu Miyajima: Pissenlit
Posted on May 13, 2010 by michael
Pissenlit was created by Tsutomu Miyajima and Kouhei Nakama for http://www.wowid.jp — a site created by WOW Japan featuring personal works by eight of their designers/directors. The site is “… not only a pure attempt at different expression but also a competitive environment, which stimulates each designer to do their best and enhances their motivation.” Three designer projects have been uploaded to the WOWid site, the others being Suiren, created by Tomoya Kimpara and Otome created by Takuma Nakaji. The other five projects will be released throughout 2010. Regarding Pissenlit: “… the materials repeatedly self-duplicate, reintegrate and rearrange. These replications, stemming from the original, undergo continuous transformation as units that branch out into infinite variations. With Pissenlit we tried to show the regularity existing in these seemingly irregular fluctuations, which in time form into a fractural “ring”.”
Tsutomu Miyajima was also a designer on WOW‘s incredible Infinity Citizen project, and the 2008 Tent London installation for Sony Ericsson called “Black and White“, as well as several other WOW projects.
We will continue to hightlight Japanese artists/graphic & motion designers and directors over the next couple of weeks … stay tuned.
