Loving this — 1923 is one of two new animation loops directed by Max Hattler, inspired by the work of French outsider artist Augustin Lesage. 1923 is based on Lesage’s painting ‘A symbolic Composition of the Spiritual World’ from 1923.
Awesome stop-motion music video for Nobody Beats The Drum from Director/animator Rogier van der Zwaag ~ This sequence of 4085 photo’s was patiently created in one room with more than 300 wooden blocks over a period of 3 months. Nice work!
Watch the making-of here, quite funny!
warm&fuzzy collective Pleix have launched a short film titled “Piu” (pronounced “pew”) and a new blog. View “Piu” on Pleix’s new blog here: http://pleix.blogspot.com
Pleix on “Piu”: The idea came from a Christmas card we designed for our French production warm&fuzzy a year ago. The card showed the one of warm&fuzzy’s logo characters, a bird, looking out a Christmas stocking. To expand on this creative concept, we thought it would be fun to do a simple and playful film with birds popping out of socks, cups, boots, etc… whistling at each other and gradually composing a complex track. “Piu” is the final product.
Piu written and directed by Pleix
Production Company: warm&fuzzy, Paris
Pleix on their new Blog: We realized that most of the people knew our personal work and not the commercial side of Pleix. So we decided to build a bridge between our personal films and the rest of the work we do – commercials, print, design, installations and exhibitions. On some jobs some the process of creating them can be as interesting as the final result, so we also added some making ofs and a few behind the scenes pictures. Our goal with the blog is for it to be like a newsletter and keep people up to date with whatever we are working on. We hope you like it and visit often. http://pleix.blogspot.com/. (Thnx Shannon!)
update: you can watch the video here ; )
Britain’s Burberry, who can boast snaring both Kate Moss and Emma Watson as past models – have embraced the concept of a 3D catwalk show. Today’s live London Fashion Week Event, which is being produced by Nineteen Fifteen Productions for Burberry – will be transmitted in 3D, to venues especially set up in top fashion cities: Dubai, Paris, New York, LA and Tokyo. These cities will have special screens at each venue, which will be tailor-made for the event. Each guest will have a pair of 3D glasses and be able to see engaging 3D close ups of the fabrics and designs. Nineteen Fifteen commissioned Squarezero Ltd, to design the opening stereoscopic sequence of titles and in prog graphics; which introduces both the brand and the host country it is specifically being broadcast to. Squarezero’s Creative Director Najma Bhatti worked closely with Burberry’s lead creative David Hudson, as it was imperative that the Burberry brand was represented in exactly the right way.
No videos yet but keeping an eye out. To get an idea, check out SquareZero’s work.
MacLAREN MRM Toronto’s CD Andre Le Masurier and his team collaborated with the incredibly talented Jam3 and Motion Theory in producing this impressive site for Buick. As the name so aptly suggests, this cool little web app creates Venn diagrams out of keywords relative to their usage in Twitter posts.
I came across Ryan Rothermel‘s latest project for Nike Shox. Great work with sound design from HECQ.
Our friends over at The Strange Attractor have partnered up with Lomography, starting a new feature series — “Still Life” … the idea being; TSA picks an artist, sends them a camera and some film, they shoot it and ship it back, and TSA develops and posts. It’s kind of a photo interview series. First up, Kim Høltermand … “Kim is a designer turned photographer known for his unique style of stunning architecture, serene nature, and beautiful night photography. We sent Kim a Diana F+ camera and a couple rolls of film and he produced this great set of photos for us.”
Another successful collaboration between Korb and Echolab. Their latest id for MTVN HD is as gorgeous and and impressive as their previous collaboration.
Michael Young recently launch his latest project March in Thonburi … “an experimental short, created over two years … After relocating from Baltimore to Bangkok, Thailand, in 2007, Young sought to expose how the many sensory influences of his adopted country have affected him. The result, March in Thonburi, embodies a richsensory journey through an urban cultural atmosphere from the perspective of a stranger in a strange land …” read more.
