Fuel TV’s experiment MachoTailDrop has been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival, premiering September 11, 2009, directed by Canadian wirter/director Corey Adams. “‘The film is the product of the FUEL TV Experiment, a program that we launched in 2004 to help find and nurture talented young filmmakers from within action sports,†says CJ Olivares, FUEL TV General Manager. “To have ‘Machotaildrop’ selected by the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival is way beyond our wildest expectations. I believe the film transcends categorization as an ‘action sports’ film. It’s simply a fascinating story brought to life in a truly imaginative way.â€
Walter Rhum’s (Anthony Amedori) dream comes true when the 17-year-old skateboarder is selected to ride professionally for Machotaildrop, the world’s most prestigious skateboard company. Whisked away from his mundane life, Walter is transported to the lavish estate of Machotaildrop’s headquarters, lorded over by the quirky and delusional Baron (James Faulkner). As the Baron grooms young Walter (“with the right air, and the right outfitâ€) to dethrone then top rider Blair Stanley (Rick McCrank) and replace him as the new face of Machotaildrop, Walter’s fantasy life dissolves into a dizzying nightmare, as he uncovers the nasty underbelly of the Baron’s skateboard manufacturing operation.
