New work up for Syndrome Studio who do amazing animation and directing for commercial and music video projects. Check out T-Pain featuring Chris Brown (some of the most incredible transitions I think I’ve ever seen) and Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory.
Image Spark allows you to upload and tag photos, plus you can also create moodboards to compile and visualize images together. They have also created a Firefox plugin and Mac app to make uploading images as easy as possible. Great idea and execution from Toronto based Teehan + Lax.
Gorgeous illustration and animation for Nascar from Superfad.
Nexus Productions‘ Tom & Mark animated a collage of different comic styles from Manga to Marvel for Coke Swelter Stopper. According to Tom & Mark; “trying to create a look that could have been made by cutting up a stack of old comic books isn’t as simple as it seems. With a tight schedule and a ton of artwork to create the brothers immersed themselves in the design stage of the project, creating endless creature possibilities before settling on our two hero characters. Tom and Mark worked together with comic book artists to create character designs with a truly authentic comic book look and much of the fun was in this design process.”
Director, illustrator, designer, animator Anthony Hurd update his site with lots of amazing new boards, art and a new reel.

TOKYO!, three visionary directors; Michel Gondry (Interior Design), Leos Carax (Merde) and Bong Joon-ho (Shaking Tokyo), come together for an omnibus triptych examining the nature of Tokyo as it is shaped by the disparate people who live, work, and run amok, inside an enormous, constantly evolving, densely populated Japanese megalopolis.
Check out this oddness! 1st Avenue Machine recently welcomed the arrival of director Asif Mian, a film director with a diverse range of creative skills and ideas. That diversity frequently roams into areas that some would all…well…bizarre. Such is the case with “Get Yo’ KLOWWWN,” a new short film from the multi-talented artist and director. A contribution to RE:UP Magazine‘s “Easy Ten” series of short films, sponsored by automaker Scion, “Get Yo’ KLOWWWN” grew from relatively simple creative idea. We’ll let Asif tell you:
“I was working an album cover involving balloons, and I had this persistent image someone farting a balloon. I thought it would be fun to create a character based on that,” says Mian matter-of-factly. “Somehow, the image of someone farting a balloon grew into a two-minute film about a dirty magical clown. I thought the idea might be too bizarre for RE:UP, but they were totally into it.” … Get Yo’ KLOWWWN together with the rest of the Easy Ten films will appear on the RE:UP and Scion websites in early 2009
New site and reel from the Laundrymat. “2008 was a busy year for us. We had the pleasure of partnering with brands like Nike, Wrigley’s, Zune, and Absolut (to name a few) and created some great spots both directorially and from the post production side. We also had a blast working with artists like John Legend, Chris Brown, Julianne Hough, Anais, and The Cool Kids on a variety of music videos and commercials.”
One of my favorite music video directors, Roel Wouters, finished this music video for the title track of zZz‘s latest album. “The video features two artists who have created the conditions to capture rage in a sytematic way. Two colored cocks print their fight on a series of posters …” The video was banned by google for a couple of months due to the nature of the visual content … but as you can see in the making-of video … no cocks were hurt.
New tv spot for the upcoming Transformers Revenge of the Fallen movie.
